Top 10 Comic Book Movies

10. X2: X-Men United

After being introduced to the characters from the previous film, X2 to gives the fans what they want from Wolverine fighting of Colonel Stryker’s soldiers to the very opening scene where Nightcrawler is breaking into the White House. All the characters from the first film come together both Xavier’s team and Magneto’s team are fighting side by side together. What makes this movie so much better then the first one is the brilliant visuals and storyline, X2 is still considered to be one of the best comic book movies to date.

9. A History of Violence

Most people see tend to view comic book movies only being about superhero’s who posses some kind of ability whether its superpowers or gadgets to give the hero the upper hand A History of Violence proves how wrong that assumption is. Instead of  muscle bound heroes the film focuses on an ordinary man who gets his family caught up in a twisted cycle of lies and bloodshed. Tom Stall being revealed as a mobster in his past the movie both graphically depicts violence and sex with a hard hitting story that is backed up by brilliant performances.

8. Watchmen

Watchmen is a movie that is visually stunning to look at it looks like it has been lifted from the panels of the comic and put strait into film. Every scene looks like a perfectionist shot more so then any other comic book movie every camera angle is so smooth and it almost feels like its gliding you through the whole movie. Despite your opinions on Zack Snyder but he knows how to make a good looking movie, the movie is kept true to the comic throughout 90% of it with a few changes. This movie still remains visually the best comic book movie made.

7. 300

Making the battle of Thermopylae famous which your average fanboy had never heard of, 300 is visually captivating. Shot entirely against a blue screen, Zack Snyder brings to life the bloody and violent comic book. Like watchmen every shot is a perfect shot and it almost feels like Snyder is gliding you through the whole movie. One thing Zack Snyder does better then most comic book film makers is that when it comes to fight/battle scenes he really knows how to replicate what is done in the comics which most directors fail to do.

6. Ironman

Ironman is responsible for kicking off the Marvel cinematic universe and for Robert Downey Jr.’s comeback. It was Marvel’s first attempt at the comic book movies and it really paid off. They did what they should have with this movie, they stuck to the original origin story but not only that they chose the perfect actor to play Tony Stark. Robert Downey Jr. was born to play this role he is half the reason for not only Ironman being so successful but  the entire Marvel franchise. For anyone else to play Tony stark it would be an insult. Director Jon Favreau did a perfect job in bringing to life the story and to this day it remains one of the best origin stories translated from the comic to the big screen.

5. Kick ass

Its a bloody, vulgar and almost slapstick look at a superhero’s life and yet it contains enough character drama and tragedy. Kick-Ass was a movie that took everyone by surprise, you didn’t know what the movie would be like until you watched it. Kick ass is another movie that looks like it has been taken out of the comics but its done in a comedic way. What makes this movie so great is the tone and the look of the movie it makes viewers feel like their Kick-Ass. Mark Strong really stole the show in this film, he known for playing villainous type roles and he really hit the mark on this one i couldn’t have pictured anyone to do a better job.

4. Sin CitySin City is a perfect adaptation of a comic book movie, if a comic book movie can be judged on purely on how faithful it is to the source material then Sin City is the greatest of all time. By teaming Sin City creator Frank Miller  with Robert Rodriguez along with guest director Quentin Tarantino these three directors were able to create a movie that was visually stunning and ahead of its time. The movie was shot completely in black and white with different pops of colour thrown in. The casting choice in this movie is perfect with Mickey Rourke as Marv, Bruce Willis as Hartigan and Clive Owen as Dwight its usually tough to find a Hollywood actor to fit a comic book role perfectly who can pull of a convincing performance but Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke and Clive Owen managed to do this perfectly.

3. V for Vendetta

While V for Vendetta isn’t the most faithful comic book to film adaptation when it comes to following the original source the film does have many redeeming qualities. Despite straying far from the anarchic politics that Alan Moore brought to us from the graphic novel the film still gives you a very surreal feeling because it almost shows how the future will turn out. The Dialogue in this movie is very witty and well thought out but the dialogue isn’t the only thing that stands out the acting in this movie is brilliant it stars Hugo Weaving  and Natalie Portman and they both help bring audiences that surreal feeling. The film contains possibly one of the most badass scenes in comic book history, near the end of the film V takes a storm of bullets to every inch of his body and still manages to come out alive and defeat his enemies using knives.

2. The Dark Knight

As a whole Christopher Nolan’s Dark knight Trilogy still remains the best comic book to film adaption ever made, but without a doubt The Dark Knight remains one of the best comic book but also one of the best movies ever made. Heath Ledger’s Joker brought a dark tone to the movie that Christopher Nolan was never able to create without him. Heath Ledger’s performance as the joker remains one of the greatest performances in cinematic history. So why isn’t this movie number 1 on this list? Christopher Nolan wanted t bring a realistic feeling to the trilogy and The Dark Knight takes that comic book feeling away when watching the film and it becomes more of an action/drama.

1. The Avengers

The Avengers is the perfect example of a comic book movie it gives audience that comic book feel that fans have been waiting for in a comic book movie. The Avengers has a bit of everything mixed together such as action, drama, comedy, romance etc. to bring you one outstandingly brilliant comic book adaptation, it almost feels like your watching  an episode of The Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes. The real standout in this movie was the Hulk, why? because fans have waited years for the hulk to be done right and Mark Ruffalo and Joss Whedon brought to life the Hulk that we have waited so long to see.

Got a different opinion we would love to hear your thoughts comment below lat us know.

Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons Cast in ‘Batman Vs. Superman Film

Warner Bros. Pictures announced less then a day ago that Lex Luthor will be played by Jesse Eisenberg and Alfred will be played by Jeremy Irons in the up coming Zack Snyder Batman Vs. Superman film. Eisenberg is best known for his Oscar nominated performance in the Social Network and Jeremy Irons is best known for his oscar winning performance in Reversal of Fortune. The dual announcement was made just two weeks after Warner Bros. pushed the film back almost a year.

Zack Snyder stated “Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s rivals, his unsavoury reputation preceding him since 1940,” Snyder also said “What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”

Most fans will be disappointed with Bryan Cranston not being casted as Lex Luthor and some may believe that Cranston is a better choice. The casting choice of Jesse Eisenberg may not be as perfect as Bryan Cranston, the choice of Eisenberg is certainly a bold one and it will leave most fans curious till the movie is released. One of the Positive sides to the choice of Eisenberg is that he is a real actor unlike the choice of Gal Godot as Wonder Woman. Lex Luthor is a character that we are yet to see done right, will Jesse Eisenberg have what it takes?

Jeremy Irons has bigger shoes to fill because he will be replacing Michael Cain who portrayed Alfred in Christopher Nolans Dark Knight trilogy. Michael Cain’s performance was loved by many because he brought a sense of warmth and love that we haven’t seen from Alfred before but it worked. Zack Snyder Stated “As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne’s most trusted friend, ally and mentor, a noble guardian and father figure,” Snyder also said “He is an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman. It is an honour to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious façade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne.” will Jeremy Irons have what it takes to out perform Michael Cain’s Alfred?

What are your opinions on this casting choice do you hate it or love it, comment below let us know

Batman vs. Superman’ Release Date Pushed Back 10 Months

July 17, 2015 was the date set for fans of the caped crusader and the man of steel, but warner brothers had second thoughts by pushing the release date back 10 months to May 6 2016. This was to “allow the filmmakers tome to realise fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story” the studio told TheWrap on Friday. The movie has been placed in a very interesting position because since 2008 Marvel has continuously dominated May and Marvel are planning on releasing an entirely new project in May 2016, this seems like good old fashion DC vs. Marvel.

Marvel are yet to confirm what movie they will be releasing but there has been speculations that it will be a Dr. Strange movie or a Black Panther movie, these are two movie which Marvel fans have been waiting a long time for. Marvel won’t be the only ones who will be releasing a film in May, Sony plan on releasing X-Men: Age of Apocalypse just a few weeks after the Batman vs. Superman movie will be released it almost seems like they are playing chicken. There is a lot of rumours going around saying that Warner Brothers and DC were rushing it and they needed an extra year to slow down and rethink what they were what they were doing. That rumour is wrong Warner Brothers and DC have two years to make the movie they weren’t rushing it, the reason why they have pushed it back a year is because they are incompetent and have dropped the ball and they need the extra year to start again. When did they drop the ball was it when they announced the rumour less then a few days ago? Or was it when they announced to the world at comic-con that they were making a Batman vs. Superman movie?

For those who have been keeping up with the news about the movie know that recently a rumour started that Warner Brothers and DC said they were going to film Batman vs. Superman back to back and now a new rumour has started to add that recent one that Warner Brother and DC pushed the film back a year so they were able to film the Justice League movie back to back with Batman vs. Superman. If that is the case then Warner Brothers and DC have show lack of faith in themselves and have no plan on where they are going with the franchise in the future and there trying to outdo Marvel. If they want to try and out do Marvel then they should have adopted Marvel’s formula which was to plan out The Avengers movie 5 years before it was made then have character development movies to build up to The Avengers. But instead Warner Brothers have no plan and confidence they are incompetent and have dropped the ball. But in reality we don’t know what is going on at Warner Brothers and DC its all just speculations this article is just a speculation but in reality its just one big mess no matter what way you look at it

With this recent news of the movie being pushed back almost a year let us know what your thoughts are your for it or against it? Comment below let us know.

Labor Day Trailer Review

It is expected when a movie is released in January that it is going to be a box office bomb. Most of the time this is the case but occasionally a movie comes along that gives hope for the movies to be released in January in the future and thats what the movie Labor Day does. The movie is about a depressed mother Adele and her son Henry offer help to a wounded escaped convict Frank who is on the run from an 18 year sentence for murder. While the police search the town for Frank, Adele and Henry gradually learn his true story and a romance is sparked between Adele and Frank. The Movie is directed by Jason Reitman and it stars Kate Winslet, Josh Brolin and Toby Maguire the movie is set to be released on the 31st of January in the U.S and the 6th of February in Australia.

Although the trailer has been out for a few months now we wanted to review this movie when then hype went down for some of the movies like The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and the Wolf of Wall Street. Even though Labor Day is set to be released at the end of January people are still put off from it because it has the January title. People have no reason to be put of from this movie though for three reasons such as:

3.Casting Choice: The Movie stars Oscar winner Kate Winslet and Oscar nominated actor Josh Brolin. Both Kate and Josh are brilliant actors and brought us some brilliant films in their careers. The thing that works the most while watching the trailer is the chemistry between Frank and Adele. The two characters are portrayed as two completely different people but when they come together they are the perfect match. The thing that stands out the most in this trailer is Josh Brolin. Josh Brolin is an actor who keeps getting better and he shows it in this movie. Even though Kate Winslet received a Golden Globe nomination, watching this trailer you can see the Josh Brolin outshines her.

2. The Director: If in the casting choice doesn’t interest you then the director of this movie should. The movie is directed by 4 time Oscar nominated Jason Reitman who has a vast range of talent, giving us movies such as Up In the Air, Thank You For Smoking and Juno he is no stranger to award winning movies. In all of Jason Reitman’s award winning movies the screenplay is written by him which may not interest most movie goers, but for the small percentage who do show an interest Labor Day is also written by him.

3.The Story Line: Whenever Jason Reitman writes his own screenplays the story is usually original and unique. Although the movie appears to be a romance movie and romance movies aren’t exactly original. But a romance story where an escaped convict holds a mother and son hostage then falls in love with the mother is original. This story opens up to wider audience then just people who love to watch sappy romance movies which this doesn’t appear to be one.

Even though this movie has already been ruled out of the Oscar category it doesn’t take away the fact this movie is going to be good.

Moviedom rating 7.5/10

Have you watched the trailer comment below and let us know your opinion on the trailer.

10 Most Underrated Actors

This is a list of who we believe are actors who are underrated and deserve a lot more credit and praise then what they get at the moment.

10. Colin Farrell

Despite the partying lifestyle Collin Farrell is someone who doesn’t deserve all hate he gets, he is an actor who has a lot of talent but makes a lot of bad movie choices but that doesn’t change the fact that he is a very talented actor. Colin Farrell has been movies which have really reflected on his acting in a real positive way, movies such as Crazy Heart, In Bruges and his latest movie Saving Mr. Banks. After watching Saving Mr. Banks Colin Farrell is the one you walk away remembering not Tom Hanks. If an actor is able to outshine Tom Hanks in movie, you have a very special actor.

9. Josh Brolin

Although Josh Brolin has been battling with his alcohol addiction for many years now there is no denying the fact that he has talent. The Oscar nominated actor has had his fair share of bad movies such as Jonah Hex, but he has shown us he is a brilliant actor with movies such as No Country For Old Men and Milk. Josh Brolin is able to bring a type of style to his characters that draws us in from the start of the movie and this is not an easy thing for the average actor.

8. Matthew McConaughey

Many of you will say Matthew McConaughey is a highly overrated actor, that is where you are wrong. Matthew McConaughey is an actor who receives more hate then praise for his work, we all know that he has made quite a few bad decisions in his career but many people seem to believe that the reason why a movie is bad is because of an actor which is completely wrong. Matthew McConaughey has proven to us that he can act and he is amazing at it with movies such as Lincoln Lawyer, Mud and his recent film which he is brilliant in it by the way Dallas Buyers Club.

7. Michael Fassbender

Michael Fassbender made a name for himself through playing Ian Mckellen’s villainous character Magneto from X-men First Class. Although he had been in movies prior to that he was an unknown Irish/British person who was a brilliant actor. Michael Fassbender showed us how good of an actor he was in the movies such as Shame and Hunger which they both brought out the best of him. Although his fame continues to grow he is still widely unknown to the average movie gower and isn’t praised enough for his brilliant acting ability.

6. Edward Norton

Edward Norton is not only one of the best actors of our generation but the best forgotten about actors of our generation.  He showed us his outstanding ability to act by pulling off an oscar nomination from his debut movie Primal Fear. Although he is an actor who is barely really spoken about much today and is slowly losing his fame an being forgotten about he has shown us  that he is an amazing actor with a vast wealth of talent  especially through the movie American History X and he should not be forgotten about.

5. Robin Williams

Alright bear with me on this one, I know what your thinking Robin Williams isn’t an actor he is a comedian. You are right about the comedian part but Robin Williams is much more then just a talented comedian, the actor who has 3 oscar nominations and one win to his name, Robin Williams has this unusual acting ability that is able to draw movie watchers in and connect to his characters in such a special way and not many actors are capable of doing this. Although the last time he was in an oscar worthy movie was in the 90′s he is still forgotten about when it comes to be a brilliant actor.

4. Casey Affleck

Been stuck in the shadows of his brother Ben Affleck for the majority of his acting career its about time he needs to step out of his brother’s shadows and show the world the brilliant actor he is. Casey Affleck is an actor his is very rarely praised for his work. Making a name for him self from the movie The Assassination of Jesses James by the Coward Robert Ford which he was nominated for oscar was praised for a short amount of praise because his brother Ben found his talent as a director from the movie Gone Baby Gone which put Casey back in the shadows of his brother. Casey Affleck also was the main actor in the movie Gone Baby Gone.

3. Woody Harrelson

Woody Harrelson is an actor who has been holding out on fans for a long time and is starting to show us now how great of an actor he really is. With two oscar nominations to his name Woody Harrelson is an actor who could quite easily pull of a third or even win one. Although Woody Harrelson’s name has become a lot more known to fans through The Hunger Games franchise he is still an actor who is barely credited for his work. even being a part of The Hunger Games franchise he still isn’t credit enough for the way he is able to bring depth to his character Haymitch.

2. Chiwetel Ejiofor

Chiwetel Ejiofor is an actor who has been around for more then a few years but has only recently made a name for himself through his more then outstanding performance in 12 Years a Slave. Never being the frontman of a movie until recently Chiwetel Ejiofor is an actor who is barely credited for his work, he has been in hits such as American Gangster and Children of Men his performances in those movies almost brought you away from watching Denzel Washington and Clive Owen who are some of Hollywoods best actors.

1. Viggo Mortensen

Viggo who? oh you mean Aragorn from Lord of the Rings. Someone who likes to keep to himself and only specially selects his movies he is mostly to blame why he is so unknown and never talked about. Viggo Mortensen is most underrated actor in Hollywood today, although he is to blame for that it doesn’t take away from the fact that he is an amazing actor and more people should watch his movies. Viggo Mortensen has such raw talent and a rare ability to be able to bring an intensity and complexity to his characters which captivates movie fans straight away. Even some of Hollywoods biggest actors are not able to do this.

Are there actors we missed or you think are underrated, comment below let us know.

Why Johnny Depp is the Most Overrated Actor in Hollywood

There is no denying the fact that Johnny Depp has talent we have seen it in a few movies of his. But there is no denying the fact that he is also highly overrated. After watching his latest box office bomb the lone ranger, it had me thinking this movie was only overhyped because Johnny Depp was in it and the performance from Johnny Depp in it was such a soft performance it was almost like he put very little effort into the movie but people still went and watched the movie just because he was in it. People still praise every movie he is in even if the movie is bad because they are blinded by the worldview that Johnny Depp is the greatest actor ever. Since the release of the smash hit Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl his movies have been getting worse and worse every year to the point where i have lost faith in him ever going back to the days of Donnie Brasco. It almost seems like he throws on some makeup puts an accent on and the world worships the ground he walks on.

Since the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie back in 2003 all Johnny Depp has done is play jack sparrow in every movie he hasn’t shown us any versatility. Back in 2007 Johnny Depp was in a movie public enemies which has been his best movies post the Pirates of the Caribbean craze and even that wasn’t the greatest  movie. A little while ago i started asking people what there view was on Johnny Depp and if they thought he was overrated. I got the same answer from everyone such as “overrated more like underrated”, “Johnny Depp is the greatest actor ever” and “there is no one who can do what Johnny Depp does”. Everyone just says the same thing that he is the greatest actor and none of them ever give a proper reason why he is the greatest actor they only say because thats what everyone else says. People aren’t seeing the truth the past 5 movies that Johnny Depp has released have all bombed at the box office.

Johnny Depp has used up so much of the prime years of his career playing these ridiculous clown characters and its getting old some of them have been great but its getting really old very fast. Johnny Depp has such a vast wealth of talent where has shown us in dramatic roles like Whats Eating Gilbert Grape and Blow. Johnny Depp needs to move away from these terrible Tim Burton movies and  just move on with the Pirates franchise and go back to making the dramatic movies that we all originally loved him for. Got an opinion share in the comment section below and let us know.

5 Actresses Who Should Replace Gal Godot as Wonder Woman

With the horrific news of model Gal Godot playing wonder woman in the new Batman vs Superman movie fans are demanding for a recast. So we created a list with the stresses we think would be perfect for the role.

5. Lynn Collins

Although some of the movies she has been in have reflected badly on her career, like box office bomb John Carter and the disappointing Wolverine origin movie. But John Carter delivered on giving us a beautiful and convincing warrior princess of mars, that is why she is on our wonder woman list.

4. Gina Carano

Known  for her roles in Haywire and fast and Furious 6, she is an actress who can deal out some damage and stay beautiful at the same time. But the reason why she suits Wonder Woman so well is she is physically built for the role unlike Gal Godot but not only that she also has some experience in mixed martial arts.

3. Kate Beckinsale

Known as the beautiful  vampire warrior Selene, she has built a reputation for being a very dangerous woman. She is also big enough to draw more fanboys to the movie but she is not to big to draw the attention away from the main focus of the movie which is batman and superman and she is very capable of holding her weight in a stand alone Wonder Woman movie.

2. Diane Kruger

This Beautiful actress may not be as tall and built as the other woman on this list but that can be easily fixed by CGI to make her appear  taller and a couple of months with solid working out to build up her body. She is a brilliant actress who has experience in blockbuster movies such as Troy and Inglorious Bastards and she is more then capable to hold her weight in a stand alone Wonder Woman movie.

1. Jamie Alexander

Tall, built and very beautiful she is a great actress who is known for her role in Thor as Sif, she is the most popular choice by fans as Wonder Woman. While watching Thor you can see that she is the perfect fit for Wonder Woman, although she hasn’t had much screen time in Thor, the moments you do see her she is kicking ass and staying beautiful at the same time.

This list is who we think should replace Gal Godot if you have anyone that you would like to see replace her comment below and let us know.
